Post Forming Laminates: Modern Home Décor Wonder

Post forming laminates have been beautifying homes for years and they definitely appear evenly beautiful because of the absence of seams on the objects. Postforming is the term used to describe the bending procedure of laminates that are specially developed to craft beautiful objects for home décor. During this process, the laminates do not lose their popular properties but can be formed into amazing cylindrical, convex, or concave curves. Later on, the laminates can be put to any kind of use as it pleases you.

Any kind of curved surface with a proper shape can be aesthetically more pleasing to the eyes than other surfaces with seams. Also, sharp edges and angles can be hurtful to children at your place. Post-forming laminates can diminish the chances of dust and dirt accumulation because it removes visible joints. This makes the objects clean, well-rounded, and safe as well. According to the master craftsman, a thin post forming laminate is more bendable than a thick one. There is another quality in a laminate that determines its bendability; its flame retardant quality. Some laminates have it while others don’t and the ones possessing this quality are less bendable. However, a good quality laminate will last for many years.

The Post Forming Process

In this particular process, the laminate is heated in the area in which it will be formed and the best formations are achieved when the laminate is heated at approximately below 190◦C. At this temperature, the laminate blisters and best bends are obtained. The heating method can be different but the temperature needs to remain consistent and should be achieved rapidly. The ideal temperature window should have a minimum temperature that won’t form cracks on the laminate and the maximum temperature should be the one where the laminate does not blister. The best-colored laminates are always formed at the upper capping of the temperature range.

The temperature needs to be controlled and monitored especially when working outside the studio. Voltage fluctuations must be taken into account when bending laminates. Applying wax or sensitive liquids controls the temperature of the post forming laminates and is thus useful.

Conclusion

Post-formed laminates are made using a diverse procedure than the conventional laminate. The goal of this post forming process is to help the laminate bend thus providing enhanced flexibility. They are easier to work with than the traditional laminates. Hence, in such projects that require better maneuverability, the post forming laminates prove to be a lot more beneficial. Today, the post forming laminates find extensive usage in building kitchen cabinets and countertops. Aesthetics is one of the benefits of using the post formed laminates. Modern technology ensures that the laminates stay in place and are shaped with ease for extensive usage thus ensuring reliability and resilience. Other areas where these laminates are used include ironing boards, masonry slab tops, small side tables, decorative columns, and even end tables. They have a visual appeal and help in preventing accidents.
