The wood-turning machine, also known as the wood-turning lathe machine, is considered essential mechanical wool in all types of woodworking workshops. These are machines that assist in wood making furniture and can help in the shaping of cylindrical profiles. Some of the necessary items that can be made with the help of the wood turning lathe include lamp posts, furniture legs, bowls baseball bats, and other types of ornamental forms.

The wood-turning lathe machine consists of three distinct elements, including electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical parts. It is significant to take good care of all these three components of the machine so that it is always functioning in its proper state. So if you have latterly invested in a wood-turning machine, you must abide by the best practices when it comes to taking good care of this machine.

One of the first things you will need to do is always follow the rules and recommendations when you choose to work with woodworking lathe machines. You should also routinely follow the maintenance rules so that the machine is always able to deliver top-notch performance. You must keep the surrounding area and the room always clean so that dust and dirt do not enter the controller or numerical control system of the machine.

Sometimes, metal powder and floating dust may critically reduce the overall insulation resistance while working with the components. It can lead to damage or malfunctioning of the machine. You should also clean the ventilation system and the heat dissipation system of the wood-turning cabinet regularly.

Another vital step towards taking proper care of the machine is to monitor the machine’s input voltage so that the CNC system can deliver performance regularly. The power voltage range of these machines is about 85% to 115% of its rated value. So you should see to it that can stick to that value. If you do not use the wood-turning lathe machine for a considerable period, you need to switch on the machine from time to time and perform a dry run.

You must keep the carbide shanks and tools of the wood lathe machine clean at all times. Also, you must keep adjusting and checking the axial clearance feature of the screw nut regularly so that axial stiffness and reverse transmission accuracy are maintained accordingly. You should also check the connection between the bed and lead screw support to see if it is loose, or not. It will help you determine if the support between the two components is damaged or not. If you face such problems, you should replace its supporting bearing and tighten all the loose parts.

While working with the ball screw, you must make sure that you apply grease on its surface so that it remains as smooth as possible at all times. You should replace the existing screw once every six months and also replace this new grease. It will help you to make sure that the machine always works effectively.
